Almost there!

This past week, I have learned how impatient I am. I guess we all get that way from time to time, and for me, this was definitely one of those times.

As I last reported (sounds so official, right?), I was awaiting the arrival of my book proof. It came that next day, just as my incessant checking of the tracking information said it would. I may or may not have stood by the window a lot, waiting for that glorious brown UPS truck to pull up. Eventually, it did, and opening the very first copy of my book was even more glorious.

Despite the thrill of seeing the physical, tangible evidence of over a year of hard work, I noticed some things that needed some tweaking. The font was just a little too large. The cover cropped a little too off-center. But that's okay. That's why proofs exist, to show the things you can't really see on the computer screen. Regardless of its little flaws, you can be sure I paged through it over and over for the rest of that night.

That brings me to now. After some technical difficulties with fonts and file sizes (blah blah blah), I finally got my final draft files accepted and I ordered my second proof this morning. It's due to arrive on Monday (ahhhhh, can I wait that long?) If everything is right, as I'm fairly certain it will be, my book will be available in just four days (Insert wide-eyed emoji here). I'm so excited. I know I keep saying that... That and "I can't wait," but it's all true. I always hoped I would get here, and now that it's finally happening, I'm just...excited. ;)
